Overview:
The Temple of Trimurti is situated on the slopes of Girnar hills in Junagadh district in Gujarat, India. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. The Temple is dedicated to the Hindu gods Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu and is one of the few Hindu temples in the country to have a shrine of all three. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple has a unique architecture and is renowned for its intricate carvings. The exterior of the Temple is covered with carvings of Hindu gods, goddesses, and various Hindu scriptures. The main shrine houses the idols of the three main gods which are adorned with jewelry and other decorations while their sanctums are covered with silver. The temple also has several other shrines dedicated to various Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as some small idols of saints. The Temple of Trimurti is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus in India. It is believed that the gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva come together in a form at the temple and all prayers made to them will be answered. The temple is also said to be built in such a way that the sun’s first rays reach the temple at dawn, which is meant to represent the worship of the sun god, Surya.
