Eremo Cemetery is a historic cemetery located in Canterbury, New Hampshire, in the United States. Originally established in 1745, it is the oldest documented community cemetery in the state. Eremo cemetery is a small, rural cemetery located in the Canterbury village of Eremo on the east side of road in Merrimack County. It is the oldest cemetery in the state of New Hampshire and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery is situated on the grounds of the Eremo Community Church, a congregation of the United Church of Christ which was established in 1745 and is the oldest organized congregation in the state. The first recorded burial at the Eremo Cemetery was that of the infant daughter of Captain John and Elizabeth Austin, the co-founders of the Eremo Community Church, on November 7th, 1745. In 1746, a meeting of church members voted on the location of the cemetery and the building of the church and cemetery was completed in 1749.
