Dal-Badal's origins can be traced back to the late 19th century when it used to be the private property of C. Ragnekone, a local zamindar. Ragnekone had a passion for cricket and wanted to build a cricket stadium of his own. He made space on his land, and requested help from local laborers to build the stadium. During its early years, the stadium hosted cricket and football matches. In 1997, the venue hosted the Ranji Trophy final between Bengal and Hyderabad. It was a memorable match, with an exciting last-ball finish when Bengal’s last batsman hit out for a six to win the match. Today, the sporting palace is maintained by the Chandrakona Sports Club. The stadium hosts various national and international sports matches and tournaments throughout the year. It is also used for recreational activities such as concerts, kabaddi matches, firebrick festivals, cricket camps, and other sports coaching. The Dal-Badal stadium has recently received a makeover, with new seating and other amenities.
