: The Shahi Masjid, located in Belgaum, is one of the oldest historical monuments in India. It is believed to have been constructed by the Adil Shahi sultans of Bijapur in the 16th Century. The Shahi Masjid in Belgaum India was built in 1706 during the Ibrahim Adil Shah II reign. The mosque has been built on an elevated platform with verandas on all four sides. It is built with lime & plaster and is adorned with intricate plasterwork. The mosque features domes, minarets, and an arch shaped entrance. There is a single large domed hall attached to the entrance and the main prayer hall. The prayer hall has 52 intricately carved pillars and several domes adorned with intricate plasterwork. The minarets have balconies and chhatris (covered pavilions) with curved dome finials. The mosque has a large central courtyard surrounded by a gently sloping colonnaded veranda. The interior of the mosque is adorned with intricate paintings in shades of pink, red, green, yellow, and white. Some areas of the mosque are inlaid with inscriptions from the Qur'an. The Shahi Masjid also contains two graves. The main grave chamber is located in the center of the mosque and contains the tomb of Ibrahim Adil Shah II.
