Santinatha Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Santinatha Temple is dedicated to Parshwanatha, the 23rd Tirthankara of the Jain faith. The main temple also houses the image of Gomata along with the figure of Parshwanatha. The temple complex also has a hall, small shrines dedicated to various Tirthankaras and other deities. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
One of the main features of the temple is the Large Open Ornate Horned Spire over a terrace (Vihaar) with a Beautiful Sewan Temple in its Center. This spire is built in the traditional architecture style of Karnataka. Apart from this, there are other features such as two large Jain temples, two small Jain temples, two Hindu temples, some pavilions, a parikrama hall and so on. The Santinatha Templewas Built During the 15th Century by the Ganga Dynasty. The temple is believed to be constructed by Shrimad Rajchandra, one of the prominent teachers of Jainism. The temple underwent renovation in 1827 and 1828 under the supervision of Ahmed Khan.
