The sanctum of Siva temple, also known as Saupthikalambur, as mentioned in the hymns of Thirunavukarasar, is situated at an altitude of 456 ft in Tirukalambur. The temple is decorated with fine carvings, sculptures and paintings depicting incidents from the Hindu epics. The temple complex includes a mandapa, tank, courtyard and Nandi shrine. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple features a majestic Mahamandapa, a small pond, a shrine for Nandi, small shrines within the temple complex, as well as beautifully carved sculptures of Durga, Chandikeswara, Ganesh, Vishnu and Shiva.
