The Prehistoric Burial Site, Vilapatti is a site near Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India, which contains several burial structures dating back to the Neolithic and Megalithic periods. The site was first identified in 2007 and was excavated in 2010–11. The findings of the excavation indicate the presence of several rituals practiced during that period. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Prehistoric Burial Site, Vilapatti is known for its many burial structures, ranging from earthen monuments to stone structures. The most impressive of these is the Megalithic stone tombs. These tombs have been built around burial pits, with stones laid in a circular or oval formation. On the surface, a four-tier lithic imprint boundary around the pit indicates the presence of a ritual during that period. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
