Prehistoric Burial Site, Puttambur is an important archaeological site located in Kondapuram village in Palacode Taluk of Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu, India. It is believed to have been actively used as a burial ground during the megalithic period. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The site consists of a series of numerous burial places, including urns, cists, megaliths, and urn-burials, made of large stones and various types of pottery. The pottery found at the site is mostly red-slipped and plain grey wares while the megalithic burials are encompassed by large granite boulders.
