Overview:
The Parasuramesvara Temple is one of the most important Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Built in the 7th century, this temple is one of the oldest surviving temples of India and is a good example of Kalingan temple architecture. It is believed that the temple was built by the great king Raja Parashuram, hence the name Parashuramesvara temple. History:
The temple displays excellent Kalinga art and architecture with relief sculptures of animals, plants, birds and flower designs. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricately-crafted motifs and sculptures of Gods and Goddesses. The stone screen around the sanctum sanctorum is divided into richly carved panels. There are also inscriptions dating back to the 11th Century that provide valuable historical information.
