History:
lter at Lekhnia Pahar is a rock shelter in a hill range in the Darbhanga district of north eastern India. This site is situated near a tributary of the Mahananda river and is believed to have been in existence since the Mesolithic period. It contains several pictographs depicting scenes of human and animal figures as well as various geometric motifs. Notable Features: The rockshelter consists of several prominent paintings and carvings of animal and human figures, hunting scenes, geometric designs and even images of deities. It is believed that these were created by the early inhabitants of the area and it gives an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the prehistoric people who lived here.
