Overview:
Old Temple at Banda is an ancient temple located near the city of Banda, in Uttar Pradesh, India. The temple, believed to have been built during the reign of emperor Ashoka, dates back to the 1st century BC. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is made of stones and comprises of two symmetrical compartments. The main entrance is towards the south and is flanked by two pairs of pillars, which were added at a later date. The main compartment is adorned with a garbha-griha and contains a lingam of Lord Shiva. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
The temple was later rebuilt in the 18th century and is said to be one of the oldest surviving examples of Indian temple architecture.
