Overview:
The Old Mughal Fort, also known as the Delhi Fort or Purana Qila, is the oldest fort in the city of Delhi and is believed to have been built by its founder, Qutub-ud-din Aibak, in the 12th century. The Old Mughal Fort has been modified and extended by many rulers, including the Mughal emperors Akbar and Shah Jahan, and is now an important historical monument in India. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The fort is located inside the Delhi Zoo, on the banks of the Yamuna River. The main attractions of the fort are its massive entrance gate, high walls, beautiful gardens and historic monuments, including a mosque and baoli (stepwell). The fort also houses the Delhi Gate, a museum, library, and two luxurious eating joints. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
