Octagonal Well, also known as Dholbaha, is an ancient well located in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab in India. This well is constructed in octagonal shape and has been standing ever since historic time. This well is protected monument of Haryana Archeological Department. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Octagonal Well, Dholbaha has two striking features, one is its octagonal shape and the other is intricate carvings of various gods and goddesses on the pillars and walls. It is believed that this well is constructed from the Ashokan period as it has inscriptions carved on the walls which are thought to be as Ashokan script.
