Nityakalyanasvami Temple ,Tiruvidanthai Overview Nityakalyanasvami Temple is a Hindu temple located in Tiruvidanthai in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his twofold form of Rama and Krishna, this Vaishnavite temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams, holiest of Vishnu temples that are a highly revered pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites. This temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Prominent Features Nityakalyanasvami Temple ,Tiruvidanthai features a sanctum housing the image of Nityakalyanasvami as the presiding deity. The image of Lord Rama and Krishna flanked by their consorts Sita and Rukmini atop a single lotus petal, making it a rare sight of both forms in one form. Other deities in the temple are that of Perumal, Venugopala, Narasimhar, Ramanuja Acharya and Adisesha. The temple has 3 separate prakarams and a separate shrine of Goddess SriDevi. History It is believed that Ramanuja Acharya visited this temple and effected a change with regard to the worship of the image. The temple is known as one of the holiest Vishnu temples and dates back to 800 A.D. Interesting Facts The temple complex also consists of a long musical pillared hall and other shrines of Hanuman, Garuda and Ranganathar. Legend has it that those who take on the pilgrimage from Sri Rangam and the Pancharangam, in the order of the temples, are said to be relieved from their sins and attain salvation, granted by Lord Vishnu himself.
