Narasimha Statue In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Narasimha Statue is a sculpture of the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Narasimha in Hindu mythology. It is made of granite and is carved in a standing posture with four hands, one hand carrying a chakra, the other a conch, the third a club and the fourth a lotus flower. It is believed to date back to the 10th-11th century AD. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The statue stands 10 feet tall and consists of an intricately carved human face and matted hair, a lion’s body and claws, with eyes full of rage and underlying compassion, symbolizing the avatar’s fierce and merciful nature. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The Narasimha statue is said to have been originally commissioned by the Chola dynasty of Southern India and was later moved to Hampi, located in the state of Karnataka. It has been most recently located at the Virupaksha temple complex located in the Hampi World Heritage site.
