Linga Temple near Narsimha Statue Badavilinga Temple is an ancient temple situated in the suburbs of Belur-Halebidu taluk in the Hassan district of Karnataka. The temple is one of the best examples of Hoysala architecture and is known for its intricate stone carvings. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was supposedly built by the Hoysala rulers in the 12th century. The temple complex comprises of two shrines, two large pillars and two mandapas. The large Shiva Linga enshrined inside the temple is believed to be over 5 feet in height.
The most distinctive feature at the temple is a 7 ft tall Narsimha Statue enshrined on the top of the temple. The temple also houses a Nandi Mandapa and several sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses, including Parshvanatha sculptures, depicting stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata.
