The Megalithic Monument at Karahibhadar is an ancient site located in the district of Junagadh, in the Indian state of Gujarat. The site is believed to have been built sometime between 500 BC and 500 AD. It is a unique monument, believed to be of megalithic origin, comprising several stones in the form of a platform and an enclosure. The monument stands in a enclosed area, surrounded by several stone circles, mounds, and putlog platforms. The site is also home to a number of carvings, pottery and other artifacts. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Megalithic Monument at Karahibhadar consists of several megalithic structures, including platforms, enclaves and circles. The enclosure is composed of five circles, the walls of which are made of large stones. A number of small circles are arranged in straight lines, forming a large megalithic enclosure. Within the enclosure are several putlog platforms, made of large stones, which served as the foundations for the construction of thatched-roofed houses.
