Megalithic cists and cairns, Kuravanmedu is a 2000- 3000 bc megalithic site located in Kanyakumari district, Tamilnadu, India. It is located near Thenmalai, around 100 kilometres away from Kanyakumari near Border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This site includes some large megaliths which includes cists, cairns and menhirs. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent features of the site are the megaliths which include Cists, Cairns and Menhirs. Cists are the oldest form of stone-lined grave, dating back to the Neolithic period, while cairns are generally used for to indicate a safe spot and rest stop for travellers.
