The Megalithic Bridge on the Um-Nyakaneth, between Jaraem and Syndai is a megalithic (large stone) bridge that spans the Um-Nyakaneth river, joining the southern towns of Jaraem and Syndai. This bridge is believed to have been constructed around 2240 BCE at the start of the Bronze Age. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The bridge itself is composed of huge rectangular blocks of stone and is speculated to have been built by the Kara-Kaiman society of the ancient Kara kingdom. The most impressive feature of the bridge is its large stone piers. The piers were built at the edges of the bridge and act as support for the bridge and its still-in-use pedestrian walkway.
