Lal Darwaza In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
At a height of about 25 feet, the arched pylon of the Lal Darwaza looks over Patna’s old city. It originally had four minarets at four corners, but only two of them survived until now. The gate is made up of red bricks. The sandstone arch is while the walls are red laterite stones. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The entrance of the gate is graced with a clock tower, resembling the Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The entrance has two walls with blue, green, and yellow decorations on the walls, signifying ancient Indo-Persian influence. The central part of the gate has a blue Ashokan pillar topped by a green dome with an electric bulb encircled by decorative symbols and patterns. Interesting facts:
