Overview:
ikanta Temple is a renowned temple shrine situated in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, India. The beauty of the temple is a majestic reminder of the great Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. This temple is one of the thirty-three Thakurani temples of south India. The temple dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu and daughter of King Daksha Prajapati, is believed to be several centuries old. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The architecture of the temple is Indo-Aryan. The deity worshipped in the Lakshmikanta temple is Goddess Lakshmi, in her four armed manifestation with her two consorts: Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The main temple complex follows the structure of the Shiva-Vishnu Panchayatan. Additionally, all the major Hindu deities are enshrined in the temple complex for daily worship. 1. The Lakshmikanta temple is one of the 33 traditional Thakurani temples of south India. 2.
