Kos Minar or Mughal Mile stone, also known as victory towers, is a type of Islamic architectural monument found throughout the Indian subcontinent, including in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Kos Minar were built in the 16th and 17th centuries by Mughal Emperors Akbar and Jahangir to commemorate their successful military campaigns in different regions of the ancient Indian empire. These towers are usually tall, upwards of 30 feet, and feature a staging viewpoint from which the victorious army surveyed the vanquished lands below and recorded the successful conquest. History:

Kos Minar or Mughal Mile stone is usually rectangular in shape and constructed of stones and mortar. The front side of the Kos Minar is decorated with large arches, and the top of the tower is generally decorated with copper or brass panels depicting Islamic geometric designs. The inside of the tower generally contains a small chamber which served as a place for the victorious general to observe the conquered lands and record the victory in his personal accounts.
