Gokul Chand Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Gokul Chand Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, located in the holy town of Gokul in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. The temple is believed to have been constructed during the time of the Mahabharata war and is said to be located at the site of Lord Krishna’s childhood home. The temple is one the most important pilgrimage destinations for the Hindus and is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna took his first seven steps. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of Gokul Chand Temple is the large image of Lord Krishna as a baby. The image of the baby Krishna along with Mother Yashoda is worshipped by the devotees and great reverence is shown towards them. In addition to the image of baby Krishna, the temple also houses several other deities including Lord Shiva, Lakshmi and Narayana.
