The gateway has two Viragal stones on either side which bear sculptures of two ancient lions. The Maruti Temple attached to the structure is also considered to be very old. Temple is believed to be built more than 700 years ago. The gateway and temple feature exquisite carvings of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and various Hindu symbols.According to the local folklore, this temple was built during the Maratha regime. Legend has it that there existed a Shiva Lingam in this old temple. The intricate and ornamental carvings that can be seen on the walls of the gateway are unique and are often admired by visitors. The temple is considered to be very sacred by the locals and hence is visited every year for pujas and special events.
