, Sengalur is situated in Kallikudi village of the Thiruchirapalli district in the Tamil Nadu state of India. It is a megalithic burial site that dates back to 800 to 1000 BCE. Dolmens were used to bury the dead in the ancient times when stone and metal were not widely available. The entire complex has several dolmens, urns and two megalithic circles, with one large and one small. Overview: The Dolmens and Urns, Sengalur site faces east with two dolmens chambers located at the entrance and two more at the back. The circular walls are made of stone slabs placed side by side and are decorated with an oval pendant. The dolmens are oval shaped and have a width of around 8 feet. There are several urns located around and between the dolmens. Prominent features: The structures in Dolmens and Urns, Sengalur have fascinating features such as the dolmens, upright stones, and two megalithic circles. The two megaliths, one large one and one small circle, is made from stones, which were commonly used in ancient times for burial.
