Babur's Garden (Charbagh) Overview Babur's Garden, also known as Charbagh, is a royal landscape garden situated beside the Kabul River in Kabul, Afghanistan. This garden was commissioned by the first Mughal emperor, Babur, in 1528, and is renowned as the first of many construction projects of the Mughal Dynasty. The garden is laid out in four quarters, often referred to as Charbagh, an example of the Persian garden style. The garden was the site of Babur's death in 1530, and is currently considered one of Afghanistan's historical and cultural treasures. The structure is believed to have been designed to store food and other perishables in the summer months.
