Baba Pyare, Khapra Kodia caves In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
yare, Khapra Kodia caves are located in the Gawli hill range of Maharashtra. They are a series of interconnected rock-cut caves of the 4th century BCE to 1st century CE. The caves are believed to have been Buddha vihara along with other day-to-day activities. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main feature of the Baba Pyare, Khapra Kodia caves is the Chaitya(prayer hall) which is the main centrla chamber. It is rectangular in shape and has portico at the entrance. The portico also consists of rows of pillars that are carved with creatures like lions and bulls. The Maha Stupa and the "Baramda" altar can also be seen here.
