Ashoka's Pillar, also known as the Ashoka Column or Ashoka Stambha, is a monumental column erected in the 3rd century BC by King Ashoka of India's Mauryan Empire. It stands at a height of 33.5 feet and is considered to be a symbol of India's rich cultural past. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

History:

The Pillar is quite renowned for its design and construction comprising of several different materials. The upper part of the structure is made out of a single highly polished sandstone block. The shaft is composed of four parts made of different material – the lower section is composed of solid brick masonry, the middle and lower sections are of limestone and sandstone and the topmost section is made of polished sandstone.
