History:

is one of the oldest worshipped temples of the Shree Swaminarayan sect in the world. The history of Swaminarayan Mandir - Rose Hall started in the year 1844 with the efforts of Late Acharya Pandit Purushottumdasji and Late Shree Balkrishanadasjimaharaj. The present form of this grand mandir was done in the year 1914 and is situated alongside the Corentyne River. This was the first temple of Guyana initiated by His Divine Holiness Acharya Tejendraprasadji Maharaj and was the fifth branch of Bochasanwasi Shree Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha in the world. This mandir is considered to be the first and oldest amongst the Akshar Purushottam Mandirs of North America and the Caribbean. It stands testimony to the tenacity, strong will and dedication of the Patels and Bhois, the devotees who came with Acharya Tejendraprasadji Maharaj, in 1895, to seek a better life; and to spread the philosophy and teachings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The temple comprises two shrines depicting Haveli style architecture and is popularly known as Baps. Its grounds include a Vachhamandir, a Geeta Bhawan and a Sabha Mandap.
