The church was founded in 1973 and has been self-supporting ever since. The first pastor of the church was Pastor Kenneth Angus. The late Pastor Angus dedicated almost four decades of his life towards the ministry and development of Samabula Gospel Chapel, where he established a strong foundation that still exists today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Fiji.
