The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma is the largest Protestant denomination in the Pacific nation. Established in 1835, the church has grown to include over 62,000 members in more than 400 congregations throughout the islands. The church was originally brought to Fiji by the London Missionary Society in 1839 and has since become an active player in the Fijian social, economic, and political landscape. The church holds true to its mission to serve the needs of the Fijian people through its various programs, schools, and clinics throughout the country. Grounds for its services range from healthcare and education to poverty alleviation, conservation, and youth leadership training. The current head of the denomination is Reverend Tevita Nawadra, who was appointed in 2019.
