The church's interior decorations date from the 19th century. Rõngu Church has a long history. The first church in the area, devoted to Saint Olaf, was likely built in the 12th century and was mostly wooden with a few stone parts. Evidence of this church is scarce, however, as was the case with many of the ancient wooden churches of the time. The present stone church was constructed in the 15th century in the Gothic style and parts of the interior decorations date from this period. During the 19th century, several renovations were done, including a new tower, the altar, and its frescoes. The tower, the church's most notable feature, was added in 1864 and is the tallest church tower in Estonia at 58 metres. Inside the church, visitors can find 19th-century decorations, such as pews, chandeliers, paintings, and windows. Today, Rõngu Church is a place of worship for local Lutheran parishioners and a popular tourist attraction. Services are held weekly and an organ concert is held once a month. The church is also used for weddings, christenings, and other special events.
