St Mary's Abbey, Nuneaton is a Roman Catholic cloister located in Warwickshire, England. It was founded in 599 by St Aldhelm, Abbot of Malmesbury. Originally, the abbey was home to Benedictine monks, who lived a secluded life of prayer, manual labor and communal worship. In 1606, the abbey was handed over to the Carmelites and in 1772, it was taken over by a branch of the Franciscan Friars. It is one of the best churches in England which you must visit.

The abbey has been a place of worship for centuries and is located close to the site of the old Roman settlement of Viroconium Cornoviorum (Wroxeter). It was the first Roman Catholic monastery to be established in England since the Reformation. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
