The church was constructed in the 13th century and replaced a smaller church on the same site. The church was enlarged in the 15th century, gaining a north aisle and chancel. In the 19th century, the church was mixed with old and new features, including a new pulpit and altar rail. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
