History:

San Jose Central Park is the oldest public park in San José, Costa Rica. It was established in 1821, when ten citizens of San Jose obtained the required permission from the authorities to turn the barren field that today holds a beautiful park, into a public park. The park was first used as a space for recreational activities and entertainment. As the first public park, it was a pioneer of modern entertainment.
