Worship Method:

The Preah KoSite of the Roluos Group in Siem Reap is a complex of eight brick shrines dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. The temple-mountains were built in the late 9th century. Worshippers visit the Preah Ko site to make offerings to the gods and to gain spiritual merit. Offerings may include flowers, incense, and offerings of food and drinks such as rice, which are placed at the foot of the temple-mountain. The devotees then chant and meditate upon the figures of Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu in the shrine, and may make additional offerings. The faithful may also do a type of penitential exercise where they walk in a clockwise circle around the temple-mountain and make three stops during the walk: at the main gate of the temple, at the shrine devoted to Prasat Thom, and at the shrine of Prasat Leu. The pilgrims might then recite chants, followed by blessings from the priests. The practice of making offerings and praying for good fortune is believed to bring positive energy and good luck to the worshipper. Additionally, many pilgrims also visit the temples during special festivals to pay their respects and join in the festivities. These festivals usually include traditional music, dance, and food.
