Koh Ker Temple Cambodia is an ancient temple complex of the lost Khmer Empire, located in northern Cambodia. The site is noted for its large and well-preserved pyramid temple, Prasat Thom, which is the largest temple by volume between the Banteay Srei and the Angkor Thom complex. History:

Koh Ker dates back to the early 10th century, during the rule of the powerful Khmer King Jayavarman IV. It was constructed by a court advisor to King Jayavarman IV and thought to be one of the largest Khmer empires. During its heyday, the region was home to more than 1000 temples and other monuments. After the death of the king, the new king abandoned the city, and the area was mostly forgotten until rediscovered in the late 19th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Cambodia.
