History:

Cahal Pech is a Maya archaeological reserve located in the western part of Belize, Central America. The area is known for its Maya archaeological ruins, which date back to the Pre-Classic period. Cahal Pech has been called the oldest known palace in Belize and one of the most important sites in the region. The site consists of 33 structures, including three main plazas, multiple ball courts, and two residential compound complexes. The main plaza was likely used for ceremonial functions and held several important structures, including an elite royal palace and several elite residential buildings. Cahal Pech was first occupied by hunter-gatherers during the Pre-Classic period (1400 BC-300 AD) and by the Early Classic period (300-600 AD), the site had developed into a large and powerful city.
