History:
The historic suburb of Trinity in Minsk was established in 1730 and is one of the oldest parts of the city. For centuries it has been a vibrant part of the city's cultural life, home to artisans and small traders, as well as many religious institutions. It was also the birthplace of the poet Yakub Kolas, who wrote about his life here in his many works. The main street of Trinity was originally lined with old wooden houses and workshops built by the tradesmen and artisans who lived here. The atmospheric street remained a popular destination well into the mid-20th century. During the Stalinist period, many of these buildings were demolished and replaced with the Soviet-style architecture that dominates the city today. Despite this, the area still retains much of its traditional charm, reflecting the vibrant cultural history of this part of the city. The main street is still lined with the old wooden houses and workshops, as well as several notable historic buildings. Among them is the beautiful Church of Saint Trinity, built in 1744, which stands at the center of the neighborhood. Various traditional festivals are held here throughout the year, which provides a great opportunity to experience the city's culture.
