Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul In Belarus: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The Cathedral dates back to 1876 when it was established as a mission church of St. Joseph's in Niagara Falls. Bishop John Farrell of St. Catharines laid the cornerstone for the new church on the 7th of June in 1881 and it was completed six months later. It was designated as a Cathedral in 1890 with the Reverend Peter J. Mulhern as its first pastor. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.

The Cathedral is built of Upper Canada limestone in the Gothic Revival style and measures 115 feet long, 39 feet wide and 51 feet high. It has a large stained glass window in the back, ornate leather wall covers, a 60-foot balcony, a full basement and a three-tiered altar. The exterior is faced in slate and features two towers.
Services:
The Cathedral offers a number of services including Sunday mass, confessions, baptisms, weddings, confirmations, funerals and more. It also hosts a variety of events such as lectures, concerts, retreats, fund raisers and meetings. The Cathedral Building also serves as the home to the Catholic Diocese of St. Catharines office.This beautiful church in Belarus has made a lot of significance in the past.
