It is the first church founded by Seventh-day Adventists in the Caribbean. The church was founded in 1893, with the construction being completed in 1900. At the time, the church was known as Arbaco Sabbath Keeping Company, a name chosen as a reference to the ancient parish of Arbaco in Grand Cayman. The church has since been renamed Workmans Seventh-day Adventist Church in honour of one of its founders, William Workman.
