Bethel Methodist Church In Barbados is the oldest Methodist Church in Barbados. It was established on February 26, 1834, and was the first Methodist Church to be built in a British colony. The original building was located in Speightstown, but was destroyed by a hurricane in 1910. The church has since been rebuilt in its current location, in the capital of Bridgetown. The church is known for its rich history, and beautiful architecture. The building is a two-story building, constructed of solid limestone blocks, with distinctive Georgian features, and it is a National Monument of Barbados. It has two distinct avenues of worship – chapel and traditional. The chapel services are held each Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm. The traditional services are held each Sunday from 10 am to 12 pm. The Anglican communion is also shared with the Anglican Church of Barbados. Bethel Methodist Church is known for its involvement in the local community, as well as its international outreach.
