The Founding of St Gabriel's Chapel St Gabriel's Chapel was built by the first settlers of Barbados, the English planters. Its main builder is believed to have been the pastor, Francis Bisse. Its design was based on English parish church models, but with local adaptations due to the tropical climate. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Barbados.
