The worship method of the Prachin Kali Mandir in Sylhet, Bangladesh is based on Hindu tradition. Devotees enter the temple to perform worship rituals by offering flowers, incense sticks and lamps to the deities enshrined therein. They perform a prostrated or seated form of ritual called puja either facing the deity or while circumambulating the idols. Hymns from the Rig Veda, sacred mantras and invocations from the Bhagavad Gita are chanted as part of the ritual. The offering of betel leaf, red flowers and durva grass is believed to be greatly pleasing to the gods. Prasad, which is blessed food or sweets, is distributed among the devotees after puja.
