Brief History:
is a five-domed mosque located in the Dhanmondi sub-district of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was built in 1676 by Mirza Pir Ali, an influencial noble of Dhaka Nawab family, who also served as the diwan, or Prime Minister, of Dhaka Nawab Family in 1656-1663. The mosque was restored in 1780 with a new design by the architect Suleiman Khan. It is a three-story building with a total of five domes (four of them on the first story and one on the second). The exterior walls are decorated with terracotta floral motifs. Adabar Jame Mosque is a symbol of Mughal architecture in Bangladesh. The walls of the mosque are adorned with arched windows, stucco ornaments and panels of marble which have floral motifs. The roof is double-layered and is also decorated with ornamental designs.
