Worship Method:
Pura Dukuh, like many other Balinese templs, follows a form of worship known as "Tri Hita Karana". This form of worship emphasizes the importance of maintaining harmonic balance among humans, God, and nature. According to this belief, proper worship and ceremonies of the temple act to maintain the balance between the cosmic, human, divine, and natural universes. During puja ceremonies, offerings of fruit and flowers are blessed and made to the temple deities. Devotees may also buy and pour small amounts of holy water (“tirta”) into receptacles to dedicate them to the Kami (stewards of the temple). Prayers said during these ceremonies are intended to bring the person into deeper communion with God and nature. To conclude the ceremony, the priests bang a traditional drum made of buffalo horn three times and give blessings to the participants. After the ceremony is completed, devotees then often will give donations to the temple and leave offerings of rice and fruits in front of the gods before they depart the temple.
