Brief History:
Sabirabad Mosque is a historical mosque in the city of Sabirabad in Azerbaijan. It was built in the 18th century and has been a prominent religious and cultural place for the Sabirabad people for centuries. The mosque today is a protected cultural monument of Azerbaijan. The mosque was damaged during the Soviet period and was in need of major repairs. Since 2013, the mosque has been undergoing restorations and renovation works which have been funded by the state. It is one of the most famous mosque in Azerbaijan which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Sabirabad Mosque is located in the city of Sabirabad in the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was constructed in the 16th century, and is a well-preserved example of early Azerbaijani mosque architecture. The mosque is a single-dome structure made of brick on a high foundation platform. The entrance is a wide double arch supported by two pairs of columns. The four corners inside the mosque are supported by four large pillars. Above the entrance is a large inscription in architectural relief mentioning the name of the Mukhtar Architect who built the mosque in 1576. The dome is surrounded by a gable roof and decorative buttresses. The interior is decorated with ornate ceramic tiles in geometric patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

It is believed to have been built in the late 18th century and later renovated in the 19th century. The mosque stands on a raised platform and has two large domes with decorative embossing on the outside. Inside, the mosque has a large hall and two side chapels used for prayer services. The mosque can be reached by bus or car, with a journey of about 20 minutes from the centre of Sabirabad.
