The Nizami Mosque is a historical mosque in the city of Ganja in Azerbaijan. It was built in the 18th century by the order of Panah Ali Khan and redesigned several times. The original structure was destroyed by an earthquake in the late 19th century and was later restored in the early 20th century by powerful oil baron Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev. Although the mosque is only a few hundred meters from the archaeological site of the former city of Ganja, it was built outside of the city as the strict Islamic law at the time did not allow mosques within city walls.
