Parish Villach North was first founded in the late 15th century, most likely by German settlers. The parish was built around an ancient church known as St. Petri-Alte Kirche. The current church building was constructed in 1777. The parish reached its peak during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when many immigrants from Eastern and Central Europe came to the town. The parish has also served as a spiritual home to many Roman Catholics in Villach, providing spiritual guidance and support. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.
