Annakirche In Austria: History,Facts, & Services

Annakirche is a Frankfurt-based Catholic church that dates back to 1567. It is dedicated to St. Anna, the mother of the Virgin Mary. The church is a designated historical monument and is known for its beautiful Renaissance architecture and stunning stained-glass windows. History The church was built in the Mannerist architectural style and was completed in 1581. It was damaged in a fire caused by a lightning strike in 1712, but was rebuilt soon after. The reconstruction work was carried out in the Baroque style. Facts Annakirche is one of the best-known churches in the city, and is situated on a hill overlooking the city centre. The facade of the church has four tall towers that are capped with spires, and the building is illuminated at night. The church houses artworks by renowned German Baroque painter Johann Liss, who was also responsible for the interior of the church. Services Annakirche continues to be an active house of worship, and services are held several times a week. It also hosts concerts, lectures and other public events throughout the year. Tours of the church building are also available to the public.
